What is the difference between a sector and an industry?

A sector is the broad classification (Technology, Healthcare, Financials…), and an industry is a finer slice within it — Technology contains Semiconductors, Software – Application, Computer Hardware, and more. We cover 127 industries across the eleven sectors, so this page sits one level deeper than the Sectors tab.

How is each industry’s day move calculated?

It is the market-cap-weighted day change of the industry’s largest covered stocks, computed from live (15-minute delayed) prices against the prior close. It is a megacap-led pulse of the industry, not an official industry index level.

How are the total market cap and company count worked out?

They cover every constituent: we sum the market capitalization (in US dollars, at daily exchange rates) and count every company we cover in that industry above a $2 billion market cap. The figures refresh nightly, with a live price overlay on the preview names through the day.

Which industry should I open?
