The Portfolio Tracker at a Glance
The portfolio tabs, what Net Invested and True Total Return mean, and what Free vs Pro includes.
The Portfolio tracker rolls your manual accounts and (on Pro) your linked brokerage accounts into one view of holdings, income, history, and forecasts — in your display currency, even when accounts hold different ones.
The Tabs
- Overview — your largest positions and top dividend payers, the Value Over Time chart, and summary numbers: total value, invested, today's move, unrealized gain/loss, total return.
- Holdings — the sortable position table (shares, cost, market value, weight, gains, total return including dividends), with a heat-map toggle and CSV export.
- Diversification — concentration measures plus breakdowns by asset class, sector, industry, and country, on a value or income basis.
- Dividend Insights — annual income, yield on cost, dividend growth, and dividend safety grades for each holding.
- Income Calendar — the next 12 months of projected dividend income, month by month.
- Dividend History — the actual income you've collected: monthly and yearly charts plus the full payment log.
- Forecast (Pro) — dividend snowball scenarios years into the future.
- Retirement (Pro) — Monte Carlo retirement odds.
- Settings — manage accounts and brokerage connections.
Net Invested and True Total Return
Most trackers confuse "moving money in" with "making money." We separate them:
- Net Invested is the cash you actually contributed — deposits minus withdrawals — entered per account on the Settings tab and nudged whenever you add or pull money.
- True Total Return measures what your money earned: current value minus net invested. Because net invested counts only outside cash, everything the account produced — price gains, reinvested dividends, dividends sitting as cash — shows up in the number, and transferring in more cash doesn't flatter it.
The Value Over Time Chart
Your portfolio's value is snapshotted nightly, building a history chart from the day you start. Linked brokerage accounts also get roughly two years of history reconstructed from their transaction records. A new portfolio's chart notes that history is just getting started — it fills in as your accounts are snapshotted each market day.
Free vs Pro
Free includes one manual account with up to 20 holdings, and every tab except Forecast and Retirement — file import, dividend tracking, and value history all included. Pro raises the ceiling to 100 accounts and 5,000 holdings per account, adds brokerage linking via Plaid, and unlocks Forecast and Retirement.
