Connect Dividend Data to Your AI Agent
Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Cursor, Hermes, OpenClaw or another MCP agent to research stocks and funds and to read and add to your watchlist and portfolio.
Your AI agent can use Dividend Data the way you do: research any stock or fund (financial statements, company KPIs, price history, valuation, analyst estimates, earnings calls and dividends), run the Stock Screener, build charts, and read and add to your own watchlist and portfolio. It sees the same numbers the site shows, with a link back to the page each one came from.
Connect
- Copy the connector address:
https://www.dividenddata.com/mcp - In your agent's settings, add a custom connector (also called an MCP server) and paste the address.
- Sign in with your Dividend Data account when it asks, and approve the connection.
Any agent that supports MCP connectors with sign-in works. The steps for the most common ones are below.
Setup by Agent
Claude and ChatGPT
Add https://www.dividenddata.com/mcp as a custom connector in your settings, then choose Connect and sign in. In ChatGPT, custom connectors are under Settings, Apps and Connectors, with developer mode on.
Grok
- Go to grok.com/connectors and choose New Connector, then Custom.
- Paste
https://www.dividenddata.com/mcpand sign in when asked.
On Grok Business and Enterprise, a team admin adds the connector first.
Grok Bot
- In a chat, ask:
Add a custom MCP server called dividend-data at https://www.dividenddata.com/mcp - Check the address on the confirmation card and approve it.
- Choose Authorize on the connect card, sign in and allow access.
Cursor
Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json, then sign in when Cursor asks: { "mcpServers": { "dividend-data": { "url": "https://www.dividenddata.com/mcp" } } }
Hermes
- Run
hermes mcp add dividend-data --url https://www.dividenddata.com/mcp --auth oauth - Run
hermes mcp login dividend-dataand approve in your browser. On a server with no browser, add--flow device. - In a running session, send
/reload-mcpto load the tools.
OpenClaw
- Run
openclaw mcp set dividend-data '{"url": "https://www.dividenddata.com/mcp", "transport": "streamable-http", "auth": "oauth"}' - Stop the Gateway with
openclaw gateway stop, then runopenclaw mcp login dividend-dataand open the address it prints. - Start the Gateway again and check the connection with
openclaw mcp doctor dividend-data --probe
You can also add the address under Settings, MCP in OpenClaw's Control UI.
Another Agent or Your Own
Use these settings in any MCP client:
- Address:
https://www.dividenddata.com/mcp - Transport: Streamable HTTP
- Sign-in: OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. Clients register with a client metadata document or dynamic client registration, and a machine with no browser can use device sign-in.
- Discovery:
https://www.dividenddata.com/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp
There are no API keys. Every connection signs in as one member and gets that member's plan.
What Your Agent Gets
Your agent gets what your plan gets on the site.
- Free: everything that is free on the site, plus your watchlist and portfolio. As on the site, history covers the last five years, a chart is one ticker and one metric, and dividend news covers the last 30 days. Pro tools and Pro cards (the Stock Screener, Value Graph, Intrinsic Value, Strategies, analyst estimates, earnings call transcripts, safety grades, Total Return) say they are part of Pro.
- Pro: everything.
Your agent can make up to 100 requests a day on Free and 2,000 on Pro. Connecting does not use your data credits.
Getting Started
Ask your agent to "get started with Dividend Data". It looks at your account, asks what you want to do, and suggests things to try. The quickest way to set up a portfolio: share a screenshot of your brokerage's positions page, or paste your holdings, and ask your agent to add them. Turn on Allow Changes first (below).
What It Can Change
A connected agent reads your watchlist and portfolio. It can add to them only after you turn on Allow Changes in Settings, under AI Agents. It is off until you do, and you can turn it off at any time.
With it on, your agent adds when you ask: tickers to a watchlist (on Pro, to a new list it makes for you), and holdings to a manual portfolio account (never one linked to a brokerage; if all of yours are linked, it asks what to call a new manual account and makes it when you agree). It follows the same rules as the Portfolio and Watchlist pages. Before it saves holdings, it is told to show you the table and wait for your OK, so check the shares and costs against your statement. Your AI app may also ask you to approve each change. Anything added can be edited or removed on the Portfolio and Watchlist pages.
It cannot remove or edit anything, change your settings or alerts, trade or move money: you do those on the site.
Ready-Made Recipes
Agents that show prompts (slash commands) list ready-made recipes: get started, add your holdings, check your portfolio's dividend safety, find dividend stocks near 52-week lows, compare two funds, a what-if with dividends reinvested, your holdings' upcoming dates, and building a chart. Ask your agent for "Dividend Data recipes" if it does not show them.
Disconnect
Remove the connector in your agent's settings, and that agent stops using it. To cut off every connection your account has made (a lost device, an app you no longer trust), contact support: we turn it off on our side at once.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does my agent see other members' data?
No. A connection reads only the account that signed in.
Is it the same data as the site?
Yes. Every number comes from the same pages, in the display currency you picked on the site while signed in (US dollars if you never picked one), unless your agent asks for another currency.
