Happy Monday,

It’s Zach here with another weekly investing update for you!

If you are manually tracking a watch list of dividend stocks, keeping up with changing payouts, yields, and dates, you are doing it wrong. Copying and pasting this data into a large spreadsheet can take hours to fill out.

That is why I just released the best free dividend stock watchlist for Google Sheets and Excel.

Topics Covered:

  • Launching the Free Dividend Stock Watchlist Template

  • Dividend Raises This Week

New Spreadsheet Template

FREE Dividend Stock Watchlist — New Google Sheets & Excel (Live Data)

This new watchlist automatically updates with live market data in seconds, replacing the hours it used to take to keep everything up to date. While our previous portfolio tracker template focused on tracking the growth of stocks you already own, this new spreadsheet is built generally for the hundreds of stocks you don't own but are considering adding to your account.

Here is what is built into the new template:

  • The Main Watchlist: The sheet automatically pulls in payment dates, 1, 3, 5, and 10-year dividend growth rates, payout ratios, free cash flow payout ratios, forward yields, and trailing yields.

  • Yield Target Tracker: Enter your specific target yield for any stock. The row will instantly highlight "Not Yet," "Getting Close," "Buy," or "Super Buy" based on its current trading price.

  • Yield History Analyzer: View 5 years of a stock's dividend yield history to optimize your entry point. It breaks down the yield into percentiles (from minimum to maximum) and provides a recommended "deep value," "fair value," or "expensive" rating.

  • Deep Yield Insights: The history tab also features a 5-year dividend yield history chart and a yield distribution histogram to show exactly how often a company has traded at a specific yield.

  • Annual Dividend Calendar: Easily see the upcoming execution dates and payment dates for the latest declared dividends of all the stocks on your list.

🔍 Dividend Watchlist: Full Summary Metrics

I built this main dashboard to eliminate hours of manual data entry. Just type your ticker symbols into column A, and the sheet pulls in the latest data instantly.

  • Complete Growth Metrics: Automatically track 1, 3, 5, and 10-year dividend growth rates.

  • Safety Checks: Monitor payout ratios and free cash flow-based payout ratios at a glance.

  • Yield Comparisons: View forward-looking dividend yields and trailing dividend yields side-by-side.

🎯Yield Target Tracker

Many dividend investors buy based on specific yield goals, so I built a tool to automate that strategy.

  • Custom Targets: Enter your own personal target yield for any stock on your list.

  • Color-Coded Action: The sheet automatically color-codes the entire row based on the current trading price.

  • Instant Notifications: Instantly see if a stock is a "Buy" (green), "Getting close" (yellow), or "Not yet".

  • Spot the Best Deals: It even flags stocks as a "Super buy" when they significantly surpass your target yields.

📊 Yield History Page (Find Target Yield)

I designed this tab at the personal request of my dad to help optimize entry points based on historical data.

  • 5-Year Spectrum: Type in a ticker to see its full dividend yield spectrum over the last five years.

  • Percentile Breakdown: View the minimum, median, 90th percentile, and maximum yields.

  • Automatic Ratings: Get an automatic rating—like "fair value," "deep value," or "expensive"—based entirely on historical yield trends.

  • Visual Insights: Analyze the 5-year yield history chart and a distribution histogram to see exactly how often a stock trades at its current yield.

🗓️ Annual Dividend Calendar

Keeping track of payout schedules for stocks you don't even own yet can be a pain. This tab solves that.

  • Upcoming Dates: Easily track the upcoming execution dates and payment dates for every stock on your watchlist.

  • Latest Payouts: Keep up with the latest declared dividends without constantly searching the web.

  • One-Click Updates: Simply hit refresh to instantly pull in the newest schedule.

How to get it: You can download the template for both Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel. Just head over to the templates page on DividendData.com to get it for free, and be sure to install the Dividend Data add-in to power the live metrics.

Once set up, all you have to do is type your ticker symbols into column A, and the data will instantly load.

📅 Keep Investing. Stay informed.
