The Fund Page: ETFs, Mutual Funds, and CEFs
How the fund research page is organized, what each tab shows, and which cards are Pro.
Funds get the same treatment as stocks: one research page per fund — try SCHD — covering ETFs, mutual funds, and closed-end funds alike. When a fund exists in several share classes, we show the flagship class so you're not comparing a fund against itself.
The Tabs
The fund page has six tabs:
- Summary — the fund at a glance: expense ratio, assets under management, NAV, top holdings, and issuer, plus a price and returns chart, 52-week range, distribution snapshot, peers, and news. The Total Return basis on the price chart — which reinvests every distribution, the fair way to judge an income fund — is a paid feature. (This chart's ten-year and all-time ranges are free; other charts on the page gate those ranges behind Pro.)
- Dividend — the distribution record: payment history as a chart and table, growth rates, and the fund's historic yield over time. The Forecast cone, the Yield Analyzer, and — on high-distribution funds — the NAV Erosion card are Pro. (Payout-ratio and safety cards are stock-only — funds pass through income rather than earn it.)
- Diversification — what you actually own: top holdings with concentration stats, the complete holdings table (expandable to every position), and sector, country, and asset-class breakdowns. All free — see Fees, Holdings, and Diversification.
- Expenses — the cost of owning the fund: the expense ratio, an interactive fee calculator, and lower-fee alternatives for free; the Cost Verdict and the 30-year Fee Compounding Forecast are Pro.
- Peers — funds from the same issuer and funds running a similar strategy.
- News — press releases plus the fund's official documents (prospectus and reports).
Gating works exactly like stock pages: a Pro card stays on the page as a compact preview that names what it shows, with a sample-preview button and an upgrade prompt — never silently removed. The date-range brush, watchlist heart, chart-builder export, and spreadsheet formula footers all carry over too — see The Stock Page, Tab by Tab.
Finding Funds
- The Funds hub ranks the largest funds by assets under management, filterable by fund type — ETFs, mutual funds, closed-end funds, and money-market funds. Strategy slices like index, active, options-income, and leveraged live in the lists directory below.
- The fund lists directory collects around fifty ready-made lists — yield and low-fee leaderboards, strategies, asset classes, and one list per major issuer.
- The issuers page compares fund families — Vanguard, BlackRock, Schwab, and the rest — by assets, fund count, and their largest funds.
