Chart Builder Basics

The Chart Builder is the Terminal's charting workbench: pick any tickers, pick any metrics, and it draws the chart. Every number it plots comes from the exact same calculations as the stock and fund pages — a dividend yield in the builder matches the yield on the stock page to the digit.

Picking Tickers and Metrics

1. Add a ticker with the search field — stocks and funds both work.
2. Open the metric picker and choose what to plot. The builder holds 75 metrics — organized into the same categories as the stock-page tabs (Price & Performance, Dividends, Earnings, Income, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Returns, Segments, Valuation, and ETF metrics for funds), with per-share variants tucked behind their parent metrics.
3. Keep adding. On Pro you can combine up to six series on one chart — compare one metric across several companies, or several metrics for one company.

Periods and Chart Types

Most metrics can be viewed annual, quarterly, or TTM (trailing twelve months — the last four quarters summed, updated each quarter). Price-style series plot daily. Where it makes sense you can also switch a metric between bar and line; specialized metrics (segment breakdowns, the income-flow diagram, drawdown) use a chart type built for them.

Beyond the basics: transforms like year-over-year growth and multi-year CAGR, per-share variants, basis toggles (for example TTM vs forward P/E), trend lines, and free-text labels.

Your Chart Lives in the URL

Everything about your chart — tickers, metrics, period, timeframe, colors, labels — is stored in the page URL as you build. Copy the address bar and you've saved or shared the chart; anyone who opens the link sees exactly what you built (a free-account viewer of a Pro-sized chart sees it clamped to the free limits, with a note saying so). Bookmark charts you check often.

Start from a Stock Page

You rarely have to start from scratch. Most chart cards on stock and fund pages have an Export Chart link that opens that exact chart in the export workspace — and one tap from there puts it on the builder canvas, ready to extend: add a competitor, stretch the timeframe, or swap the period.

Free vs Pro Limits

• Free: one ticker and one metric at a time, with a five-year history window.
• Pro: up to six series, 10-year, all-time, and custom ranges beyond the five-year window, and the Pro-gated metrics (analyst estimates, total return, dividend safety, segments, the income-flow diagram, and the Value Graph series).
